Applying the Wisdom of Yoda to Overcome Self-Doubt

Being motivated by external validation is a common issue in the modern world. It is normal for us to seek acceptance and love from those around us during our childhood, teens, and young adulthood. However, as we enter into middle age, it is essential that we strive to attain our own internal validation. This can be done by engaging in activities for the sake of doing them, regardless of anyone else’s opinion.

The key here is to focus on doing things well and being able to be proud of our efforts, not just relying on recognition from others By making this shift in mindset and outlook, we can free ourselves from doubts and self-doubt for good.

Yoda is a legendary figure in the Star Wars universe, renowned for his wisdom and powerful ability to tap into the force. With his iconic long ears, wise eyes and memorable phrases like, “Do or do not. There is no try,” Yoda has become a symbol of wisdom throughout the galaxy.

We kick off this episode with a discussion on Luke Skywalker’s first test with Yoda going into a cave filled with darkness. When Luke asks what is in the cave, Yoga simply replies, “Only what you take with you.”

This scene with Jedi Grand Master Yoda is a perfect symbol for our journey in overcoming self-doubt and moving towards achieving internal validation.

The path to finding your own personal power is not always easy but it is worth the effort. As Yoda said, “You must unlearn what you have learned.”

We will also explore Dr. Slover’s Q.U.E.S.T. model to living your best life beyond the rut and making incremental, non-disruptive shifts in behavior to build momentum for massive life change.
