Erik G Allen is a success story of a man who has overcome the School of Hard Knocks to get to where he is today as a husband, father, and entrepreneur.
What is the School of Hard Knocks
the experience gained from living, especially from disappointment and hard work, regarded as a means of education – Dictionary.com
The School of Hard Knocks is a term used to describe the experience of learning through life’s difficulties and hardships. For Erik G Allen, this has been a reality. He experienced his parents’ divorce at a young age, about 11 years old. The father figure in his home was replaced by someone who was abusive.
At 12 years old, Erik was sleeping in the garage while the rest of the family slept in the house. He saved his mother from an attack from this abuser only to find himself living a life as a couch surfer while finishing high school.
Despite all of the challenges he faced at the School of Hard Knocks, Erik was determined to get an education and make something of himself. He graduated high school, attended college, and met the woman of his dreams.
Life Gets Better
The Power of a Mentor
A mentor can change your life. By providing guidance, support, and advice, a mentor can help you improve your life in many ways. If you are struggling with a problem or facing a difficult situation, a mentor can offer a new perspective and help you find a better way to cope.
In addition to offering advice and support, a mentor can also be a role model. Seeing someone who has succeeded in spite of challenges can give you the motivation to keep going when times are tough. A mentor can show you that it is possible to achieve your goals, no matter how difficult they may seem.
If you are looking for someone to help you make positive changes in your life, consider finding a mentor. A mentor can make all the difference in helping you achieve your dreams.
Establish a Routine for Personal Growth
If you’re wanting to graduate from The School of Hard Knocks with honors, consider creating a morning routine dedicated to personal growth and development.
If you’re looking to improve your life, consider establishing a routine that includes meditation or prayer, reading, writing, and exercise. Such a routine can help you in your personal growth and development. Through regular practice, you can develop better habits and become more self-aware. You may also find that you have more energy and focus, which can lead to better decision-making overall. So why not give it a try? You may be surprised by the results.
Start your day with intention.
The School of Hard Knocks tried to dictate to you a schedule of hardship. You are likely an adult now and have the power to make this different. Change things.
Wake up each day and take a few moments to set an intention for the day. This can be something as simple as deciding to be more present or mindful, or it may be something more specific like working on a certain task or goal. Once you’ve set your intention, take some time to meditate or pray. If you’re new to meditation, there are many resources available to help you get started.
In addition to setting an intention, use your morning routine as a time to reflect on what you’re grateful for. Gratitude has been linked with increased levels of happiness and well-being, so take a few moments each day to think about the things in your life that you’re thankful for.
After you’ve meditated and reflected on gratitude, it’s time to get moving! Exercise is a great way to start your day, as it can help to increase energy levels and improve mood. If you don’t have time for a full workout, even a short walk or some simple stretches can be beneficial.
Finally, end your morning routine with a bit of reading or writing. Reading can help to broaden your perspective and increase your knowledge, while writing can be a helpful tool for processing your thoughts and feelings. If you’re not sure what to read or write about, try prompts like these:
– What are my goals for today?
– What did I learn yesterday?
– What am I struggling with right now?
– What am I grateful for today?
